Vocational Rehabilitation

Ultima Medical Services recognizes that, as a result of some permanent disabilities, worksite accommodation can not be achieved. In these cases where employment transition is required, we can facilitate all the required Vocational Rehabilitation interventions. We are well recognized for the development, implementation and monitoring of individual Vocational Rehabilitation Programs/Plans. To facilitate successful Vocational Rehabilitation Planning and Work Transition, we determine and implement the best possible combination of services.

Vocational Rehabilitation Services prepare individuals in transition to achieve a lifestyle of independence and integration within the workplace, family and community. This transition is achieved through vocational evaluations and assessment, job preparation, job search assistance, work re-integration, and medical, therapeutic and educational services.

VOCATIONAL PLANNING

Choosing or changing a career path can be one of the most difficult decisions a person can make. Thorough and effective research is the best way to help our clients make educated decisions regarding career or occupational choices. At Ultima Medical Services, we customize our Vocational Planning Services to achieve optimum, realistic and cost-effective results for all Stakeholders.

INDIVIDUALIZED VOCATIONAL REHABILITATION PLAN

An Individualized Vocational Rehabilitation Plan is developed utilizing the client’s work experience, skill base, socio-economic situation, relevant medical & psychological information, education and training. We also consider client preferences, claim entitlement, cost & time considerations and geographic issues. The Individualized Vocational Rehabilitation Plan may incorporate applicable assessment results and research findings.

LABOUR MARKET RESEARCH

In many cases, current labour market information may be required to verify and support an individual’s employability. Our Labour Market Reports includes complete job descriptions, task requirements, future growth potential, earnings potential and current minimum training requirements necessary.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING PLAN DEVELOPMENT

A detailed education or training plan can be incorporated in a client’s Individualized Vocational Rehabilitation Plan, as applicable.

MONITORING OF VOCATIONAL REHABILITATION PLANS

To ensure adherence to the Vocational Rehabilitation Plan and facilitate successful outcomes for all Stakeholders, we can monitor the progress of the Plan on a periodic basis, as required.

VOCATIONAL EVALUATION & ASSESSMENTS

Vocational Evaluation provides a measure of an individual’s occupation potential and helps establish concrete employment goals. At Ultima Medical Services, we utilize the most comprehensive and up-to-date Vocational Assessment tools to provide specific and detailed information to determine an individual’s unique strengths and weaknesses with respect to employment and training options. These assessments include:.

COMPREHENSIVE VOCATIONAL EVALUATION

A Vocational Evaluation is a comprehensive representation of a client’s vocational status and subsequent residual employability. It incorporates the results of various assessments and testing measures, such interest and aptitude testing, function capacity evaluation or a complete psycho-vocational assessment.

NEUROPSYCHOLOGICAL TESTING

Neuropsychological tests are specifically designed tasks used to measure a psychological function known to be linked to a particular brain structure or pathway. Tests are used for research into brain function and in a clinical setting for the diagnosis of deficits. They usually involve the systematic administration of clearly defined procedures in a formal environment. Neuropsychological tests are typically administered to a single person working with an examiner in a quiet office environment, free from distractions. As such, it can be argued that neuropsychological tests at times offer an estimate of a person's peak level of cognitive performance. Neuropsychological tests are a core component of the process of conducting neuropsychological assessment, along with personal, interpersonal and contextual factors.

Most neuropsychological tests in current use are based on traditional psychometric theory. In this model, a person's raw score on a test is compared to a large general population normative sample that should ideally be drawn from a comparable population to the person being examined. Normative studies frequently provide data stratified by age, level of education, and/or ethnicity, where such factors have been shown by research to affect performance on a particular test. This allows for a person's performance to be compared to a suitable control group, and thus provide a fair assessment of their current cognitive function.

PSYCHO-VOCATIONAL TESTING

The individual is assessed by a psychologist to examine the individual’s aptitudes, academic achievement, intelligence, vocational interests, personality and emotional functioning for the identification of vocational options and any barriers to employment

TRANSFERABLE SKILLS ANALYSIS - TSA

Our Vocational Analysis (TSA) is a comprehensive representation of a person's work experience, transferable skills & abilities, education & training, vocational interests & attributes physical abilities and preferred work values, work functions and work situations.   In the case of injury or disability, residual functional capacities can also be considered by adjusting the worker traits associated with their work history. This data is then used to identify a set of occupations that a Worker would be able to perform.
