Conditions such as obesity, cardiovascular disease, diabetes and other ailments can affect your Employees’ quality of life and work performance. They also can take a toll on your corporate health, productivity and bottom line. Periodic Health Screening enables the early detection of potential or developing medical problems, at a point where an intervention will be of benefit to both the Employee and the Employer. Our Health Screen & Fitness Appraisal is designed to detect any health and/or fitness conditions at the earliest stage and direct the Employee to appropriate medical care.
Upon completion of the seven (7) assessments illustrated below, the Employee will immediately receive a detailed report outlining their personal risk factors, if any (e.g. High Risk, Medium Risk and Low Risk). If requested, and in keeping with Privacy Laws and Legislation, the Employer will receive an Aggregate Report with recommendations.
Blood Pressure & Cardiac Assessment:
Assess the sounds made by the aortic, pulmonary, tricuspid and mitral valves in the heart and ensure the blood pressure is within the normal range. Hypertension refers to arterial pressure being abnormally high as opposed to hypertension, when it is abnormally low. Persistent hypertension is one of the risk factors for strokes, heart attacks, heart failure and arterial aneurysm and is a leading cause of chronic renal failure.
Pulmonary Function:
The assessment of Pulmonary Function involves the determination of subdivisions of total lung capacity. The FEV is a measurement of the maximum volume of forced expiration in one second. A normal value indicates that the client is unlikely to have any obstructive limitations in breathing during exercise.
Healthy Body Composition and Body Fat Percentage:
The assessment is done using four techniques to approximate body fat percentage and lean body mass to provide both a qualitative and quantitative measure of body composition. We will be able to identify your current cardiovascular risk factors as it correlates to heart disease, cancer, stroke, diabetes, atherosclerosis and obesity.
Composite Musculoskeletal Fitness:
Benefits include the unrestricted ability to perform daily activities and recreation, ability to cope with emergencies, reduced injuries and disabilities, healthy aging, maintenance of functional independence, healthy back and overall improvement of self-esteem, self concept and quality of life. This appraisal has up to six components that measure muscular strength, endurance and flexibility.
Postural Exam:
The postural exam identifies individuals whom through natural or work related processes have poor posture, postural fatigue, numbness, back & limb pain, or are at risk of repetitive strain injury. The ergonomic assessment aims to identify people who have postural problems and tailor the workplace to minimize extended reaches, force and repetition and maximize work rate efficiency.
Metabolic Rate:
Your BMR (Basil Metabolic Rate) is an estimate of the number of calories your body requires while at rest to sustain basic life functions. MR (Metabolic Rate) is the BMR plus an additional caloric factor that reflects the extra energy your body requires due to various levels of activity. These numbers can be used to guide your caloric intake.
Urinalysis:
Urine dipstick chemical analysis. This test will screen for diabetes, nephoric syndrome, diabetic ketosis, urinary tract infection, bacteria, dehydration, hepatitis, liver disease, obstructive biliary tract diseases, haemolytic anemia’s and hepatocellular disease. Blood identified in urine could also suggest hematuria and may be due to tumours in the urinary tract, kidney trauma, renal infarcts, glomerular damage, urinary tract stones, kidney toxicity, physical injury or stress and acute tubular necrosis.
